Dear Rovers North,

LETTERS Trevor Ness 1000023154 web

This year’s Vermont Rovers Weiner Roast was a fantastic gathering! Many thanks for the organizers for putting on such a great event – Land Rovers, trails, parts swap, a raffle and of course, wieners. Super friendly and I met a lot of great people. I’ll definitely be back next year!

I enjoy taking my ’12 LR4 HSE on the Antelope Valley Four Wheeler’s Monthly Club Runs. In February, we visited an abandoned lava rock tailings pile and took the BLM Trail Run EP 26 east through the Black River Wilderness. I particularly enjoy the El Paso Mountains region of California.

[Thanks for sharing the photos of our off-roading with our readers. In an LR4, you made these trips in great comfort! The vistas and landscapes in California are quite special –ed.]

Not long after our wedding, my husband Reese and I packed up our camper and traveled through Central America. We thought of you as we spotted Land Rovers in Honduras.

Dear Rovers North,

I really appreciated “The Welly” in the Spring issue. It brought up again a feeling that I live with. I bought a ’72 Series III back in 1992 for $800. I fixed it up myself and it’s been a companion of mine to this day. Getting it on the road involved visits to a salvage yard and parts from Rovers North. When the yard closed its doors, I bought two Volvos, an Amazon [122] and a P1800.
From there, I’ve owned at least ten of the Volvo 122s or 740s, as they reminded me of my Series III. Good quality, crappy performance and longevity built in – a golden age for Volvo. BTW, I always see your Editor pictured wrenching – why is that?
Thanks to Rovers North as a company, as you keep us going!

Your rubber door seals kept the wet, windy cold weather outside during my journey to the Boston Cup Classic Car Show on the Boston Common. Looking forward to removing the canvas hood and hood sticks when the weather turns warm.

Dear Rovers North,

Here in the California Sierras, spring was a welcome sight – right up until it started snowing! I thought you might get a kick out of the “Spring” photos of my ’97 NAS Defender 90.

Dear Rovers North,

I noticed in your Spring 2024 issue that a gentleman discussed seeing a Series Landy working as a tow truck. It reminded me of a time while camping in the Val D’Isere region of France in 2014, that I saw this Defender outfitted as a tow truck. It made me feel more comfortable knowing that our ’94 LWB would be in good hands if the need arose.

Aloha! This year, Hawai’i Land Rovers will kick off its inaugural rally in July. There has not been a gathering like this in many years and we will celebrate with a special event. Hawai’i is the country’s most remote developed place; as such, we have grown into a close-knit community of people who love their Land Rovers.
We would love to invite your magazine to share this story about our group and these amazing islands on which we live and play.
