For 2025, The Association of North American Rover Clubs (ANARC) has partnered with two of its long-standing member clubs, Ottawa Valley Land Rovers (OVLR) and the Rover Owners of Virginia (ROAV), to celebrate their accomplishments over the decades through logistical and in-person support at their main annual events, the OVLR Birthday Party [August 22–24] and the ROAV Mid Atlantic Rally [September 25–28]. Congratulations to our founding member club, OVLR, on their 41st anniversary Birthday Party weekend! And equal applause for ROAV’s Mid-Atlantic Rally, which celebrates its 50th anniversary as a club and 31st Mid-Atlantic Rally.
Many member clubs post their event information on the ANARC website: www.anarc.club
For 2026, ANARC will create another Stewards Off Road Recovery and Leadership Training (April 15–19) for its clubs, and will partner with the Solihull Society [CO] for their annual National Rally. A third event will take place under the leadership of the SoCal Land Rover Club.
The ANARC Advisory Council meets online monthly to advise the Board of Directors on club initiatives and member club needs. Forty-five participants represent the 24 member clubs and active enthusiasts from the US and Canada. If you are interested in participating, contact ANARC Board Member Scott Preston (roverxtdi@gmail.com).
The Association of North American Rover Clubs (ANARC) has a counterpart in the United Kingdom – the Association of Land Rover Clubs (ALRC). ALRC has gone through several iterations; in 1978, the Rover Owners Association in the UK transitioned into the Association of Rover Clubs (ARC). This shift encouraged individuals to join local clubs affiliated with the association; in turn, the association provided support to its member clubs.
In 2006, ARC rebranded itself as the Association of Land Rover Clubs (ALRC) to better reflect its member clubs. While many ALRC member clubs primarily focus on competitive events – such as Road Taxed Vehicle (RTV) trials and more extreme speed-based competitions – individual members also enjoy green lane off-roading, camping and restoring or customizing their vehicles.
Though there may be differences in the primary interests of member clubs between ALRC and ANARC, one unifying factor remains: a shared passion for Land Rover vehicles.
While ANARC was finalizing plans for its Jubilee Celebration of Land Rover’s 75th anniversary at Greek Peak, it was also working behind the scenes to adopt principles of club support similar to those of ALRC. In late 2022, discussions began between the two organizations, culminating in an agreement in spring 2023 to celebrate their shared enthusiasm for Land Rovers.
This agreement also enables ANARC to adopt ALRC’s competitive regulations for ANARC-sponsored events, effectively standardizing RTV competition rules worldwide. These regulations will be applied during the RTV stage of the ANARC Cup, held at the OVLR Birthday Party (August 22–24) and the Mid Atlantic Rally (September 25–28, 2025).
While North America’s vast off-road trail system differs from the UK’s green lane network – shaping the interests of ANARC member clubs accordingly – many common bonds remain. As time goes on, ANARC aims to strengthen these ties with its overseas counterpart.
